product designer
I have a passion for solving complex user problems with simple solutions, that keep customers coming back.
My multi-faceted experience in neuroscience, digital product design, business development, branding, and web development gives me a unique perspective on product design and allows me to balance needs from all parts of the spectrum.
I'm a product designer with a degree in neuroscience and computer science, both of which I use to help me create the best possible designs for users. While my knowledge of neuroscience helps me understand human perception, cognition, emotional affect and much more, my experience as a developer allows me to create designs that can be developed quicker and more efficiently. For the past 5 years, I've also been applying my passion for design to creating and running my own activewear brand, APEX polewear. This experience has given me an in-depth knowledge of business development, branding, e-commerce and much more.
I am based in Amsterdam, and looking for an exciting place to work. I enjoy working at ambitious, innovative companies where I can create user-focused products that feel like a second nature to use. I am looking for a position where I can take complex user problems and conceptualize and design products that will solve them.

design experimentation
role: ux design, visual design, experimentation, innovation, education
tools: figma, adobe illustrator, miro
At de Bijenkorf, I am principal designer of the experimentation squad for the e-commerce platform of de Bijenkorf. Our squad is responsible for gathering and coming up with ideas to improve the website in various ways, then designing A/B-tests in order to test our hypotheses for improvement.
Over the course of this role I have tested many different concepts. One of the most valuable designs was an experiment on our product page, where we added preview thumbnails of each available image. This experiment was so successful, that it not only increased conversion rate and basket size rate significantly, but it also vastly improved customers' shopping experience on the website.
website & mobile app
role: ux design, visual design, branding, design lead, user research, concepting
tools: figma, adobe illustrator, hotjar, zeplin
At Vochlea, I was lead designer of the customer-facing website. When I started working at vochlea, the website was a single short page that didn’t offer much to the customer in terms of engagement, information, or a clear brand identity. Over the course of a few months, I transformed it into something exciting and informative that keeps customers’ attention. The new website also gives them the sense of security to buy from a relatively unknown brand with a high price point.
Another project I worked on during my time at Vochlea was the concepting of a mobile application that would be an extension to Vochlea's main software: Dubler. Together with my fellow designer, I researched user needs to uncover potential for a new mobile application, and synthesized findings to come up with a final concept that had the highest likelihood to find product market fit with our target audience.
retail performance insights
role: research, ux design, visual design, prototyping
tools: adobe xd, figma, adobe illustrator, miro
As part of my design education, I took on this project to create a tool for retail store managers which would allow them to gain insight in the performance of their store(s) and their employees, making use of individual feedback given by store customers.
During my research, I discovered five performance indicators which are generally considered to be most important when assessing store performance: basket size, store traffic, revenue, average sale, and conversion rate. I used data visualization to create a tool that enabled retail managers to get quick insights into their store performance that would help them improve their store.
employee engagement software
role: research, ux design, visual design, prototyping, iconography
tools: figma, adobe illustrator
Equativo is a startup that wants to tackle the issue of employee disengagement by focusing on employee needs. I worked on creating the platform that would promote employee engagement over a period of 4 weeks in a team of myself and 3 other designers.
As employee engagement is a complicated topic to address, we focused on 3 main things we found in our research that allow employees to feel most engaged: feeling valued in their role, feeling connected with colleagues, and being able to voice concerns. Users found our platform to be especially valuable for connecting with colleagues and for allowing the ability to voice concerns.
activewear brand
role: product design, branding, marketing
tools: shopify, figma, adobe illustrator, adobe photoshop
I started APEX polewear when I noticed the lack of high quality basics made for pole dancing. Most brands focused on one-upping each other by creating more and more extravagant designs. While most pole dancers love and purchase these items, they are rarely worn during training because of issues with comfort and practicality. The few brands that focused on basics created low quality clothing.
My primary focus was to create versatile basics of high quality, that look flattering on any body type and are comfortable and practical for training sessions. I utilized user research and user testing to create items that fit well and comfortably on most pole dancers. The results of this extensive research speak for themselves. Since starting APEX polewear, I have sold in over two dozen countries worldwide, received glowing reviews, sold out collections numerous times, and achieved a returns rate of one third the benchmark average for fashion e-commerce.
